Legend related to Vaishno Devi Temple: Vaishno Devi is considered to be incarnation of Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Kali. The story is about Vaishno Devi, who was born to destroy Demon Mahishasura. From her childhood, she was very much devoted to Lord Vishnu and lord Rama. Very soon she left all worldly affairs and went into deep forest for meditation.
Bahironath came to know about it and he decided to see her and on the first sight he was smitten by her beauty and grace. He forced her to marry him. Some how she ran to jungles to evade him. At the end, she confronted him on the entrance of the cave and beheaded him. Bhaironath’d head flung up the mountain by force of the blow and fell at the place where the Bhairon Temple is now built.
