Jai Ganesh Deva Aarti
Ganesh Chaturthi is a sacred festival of the Hindus. It celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesh is a God of wisdom and prosperity. This festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadrapada starting on the shukla chaturthi. This festival falls usually between August 20 and September 15. Usually this festival lasts for 10 days. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in various parts of the India in different ways. A preparation for the festival starts much before the date. The house is cleaned and an idol of the Lord is kept in the house. Decoration is done with flowers, mirrors and lights. The Lord is worshipped with great devotion and prayers are performed daily.
Once the worship is complete, the statues of the Lord are carried on decorated floats and immersed in the sea after one, three, five, seven and ten days. Many people take part in the immersion of the idols in the sea. The people dance and explode fire crackers on the way to Lord’s immersion. As the idol of the Lord is immersed people chant “Ganesh Maharaj Ki Jai” (Hail Jai Ganesh). People chant to the Lord to return next year saying” Ganapati bappa moray, pudcha varshi laukar ya” meaning Hail Lord Ganesh, return again soon next year. From all over the world people come to witness this wonderful event in the sun kissed beaches of Goa and Mumbai.
